The Blazers - Kryptonite

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

The BLAZERS started as a Junior High School Rockabilly band - heavily influenced by the likes of the SPARKLETONES & THE POLECATS (along with other "standard fare") and consisted of Micheal (who eventually co-founded COSMIC VOODOO) on Vocals & Guitar, Jason Johnson - Lead Guitar, Steve Mahrley - Upright Bass and Jeff Parker on drums. The Start of High School saw Alan Nichelson (who also co-founded COSMIC VOODOO) take over the drum seat; and also the discovery of the Suave & Mighty Bold GRAVE DIGGERS - another high school band from a near by town that was doing their own "Punked-Up" version of Rockabilly that had a major influence on The Blazers! In about late 1986 Michael met an incredible Upright Bass player by the name of Gator (who went on to form the Bea-Pickles, Coffin Draggers + more), and it was Gator that introduced he & Alan to the Meteors, Batmobile, Demented Are Go and a whole lot of other Psychobilly bands... and things were never the same! Gator joined The Blazers and a short time later Jason Goodman of the GRAVE DIGGERS joined!!! With the new line-up many different "genres" of music were being introduced into the band's set lists... Rockabilly, Psychobilly, R&B, 60's Garage, Surf etc. And in 1989 The Blazers recorded and released their sole recording - a 4 track e.p. 7" titled "KRYPTONITE". All originals with a picture sleeve... and in the dead space of the vinyl the matrix.. reads: "Gator eats potato bugs"! Shortly after that The Blazers were no more. For further listening seek out THE GRAVE DIGGERS - COSMIC VOODOO - THE BEA PICKLES - COFFIN' DRAGGERS... they're all related somehow...
